Public Affairs Division
The Communications and Public Affairs Division of The Hornet Tribune is the primary point of contact for news media organizations and the Alabama State University community seeking information about The Hornet Tribune’s programs, policies, procedures, statistics, and services. This division ensures that the messaging regarding The Hornet Tribune is both effective and timely. Despite the fact that it is a weekly student-operated newspaper, the staff makes strategic decisions all the time, however, the manner in which those decisions are communicated may make all the differences in the world.

Hello, my name is Kendell Lamonte Grant, a criminal justice major and communications minor with a career goal of becoming a criminal attorney and eventually a judge. I am a native of Tuscaloosa, Ala.
The son of Kendell Grant and Teresa Brown of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, I attended Holt High School where I held five positions, one as the three-year drum major, the 2018-19 ROTC Battalion Commander, and the 2016 – 2020 SGA President. I also served as a Holt Ambassador, and I was a member of the National Honor Society. I received the Ironman Award due to exceptional school spirit, leadership, and character. While in the Holt Junior Reserve Office Training Corp., I received the Leadership Education Training Award, Superior Cadet Award, 2017 to 2019 Best Drill Commander, and the honorary Purple Heart award in 2019.
I selected Alabama State University because I was awarded a music scholarship as well as the hospitality that the campus offers, and I did not want to be far from home.
As a freshman, The Hornet Tribune is the only organization that I have affiliations with, but as I continue to grow at Alabama State University, I am sure that I will join more organizations. However, I feel like this position will prepare me to become a press liaison. I would recommend The Hornet Tribune to other students due to the organization giving students an opportunity to express their talents, and doing something you love as well.
