Hello, my name is Kyra Rogers, twenty-one and from New Orleans LA. Currently, a junior majoring in Visual Arts with a concentration in Graphic Design. I graduated from Edna Karr High School in New Orleans, LA in 2021.

I am the daughter of Dominique Rogers and Late Micheal County. The middle child of five, from oldest to youngest, there is Kiara Gasper, Kierra Gasper, Dajon County, and Keyuna County. I chose to attend Alabama State University to branch out of my hometown. As a kid, I always dreamed of going to a historically black college or university and being part of the history-making experience. Alabama State University College of Visual and Performing Arts is very one-on-one and as a growing artist that is very important. The history alone and the principles of COVPA are very impactful. They challenge and prepare you for your field of choice.

My high school participation was in the Advanced Art Club and the Voices of Pride Choir. After arriving at Alabama State University I decided to join an organization to improve and challenge myself. I am a member of the Student Art Organization, The Hornet Tribune, First-Gen Scholar Organization, and ASU Host Team. My pre-career goal is to be a design director for a company. My end career goal close to retirement is to be a graphic design professor for colleges or a visual arts teacher for high schools. Every art teacher and professor I have encountered has impacted my life and I would like to impact the next generation.

I am drawn to the Hornet Tribune because of the way it captures the times and experiences of ASU. As a newspaper layout designer, I can obtain more experience in my field, contribute to my résumé, and help strengthen and expand my creative talents.

I would strongly advise any Alabama State University undergraduate to take part in The Hornet Tribune team in any way because it is going to assist them in their careers as professionals as well as boost their confidence regarding their ambitions for the future. I want to leave an inspirational legacy for future hornets. To not give up when life gets hard, and that there is a bright sunny path after the hurricane. I want to be known as Ms. Find A Way.

Hello, my name Jerobe Bailey, a first-year visual arts major from Atlanta, Georgia. Before arriving at Alabama State University, I attended Westlake High School where I was very active in my school’s media team. I was a part of organizations such as Fashion Club, Deca, and Sports Media Team.

I selected Alabama State University as my institution of higher education because it has always been held in high esteem in terms of higher education. I wanted to be a part of a student body that cared about its education, and I wanted to be around individuals that craved knowledge and had the same aspirations as I did.

I chose to work with The Hornet Tribune to sharpen my skills and build relations with others around the school. I enjoy working with those who are not in my major and learning about others as individuals.

I would recommend other students to work with The Hornet Tribune because there is a lot of learning that occurs once you join the staff. It is a great way to network with other students and learn more about the institution in its entirety. I have enjoyed working with the staff of The Hornet Tribune, and Mr. Dean is outstanding in what he does, being that he is accessible to the students he works with. I’ve learned a lot from him while on staff.

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of “de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum” (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, “Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..”, comes from a line in section 1.10.32.

The standard chunk of Lorem Ipsum used since the 1500s is reproduced below for those interested. Sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 from “de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum” by Cicero are also reproduced in their exact original form, accompanied by English versions from the 1914 translation by H. Rackham.It is a long established fact that a reader will be distracted by the readable content of a page when looking at its layout. The point of using Lorem Ipsum is that it has a more-or-less normal distribution of letters, as opposed to using ‘Content here, content here’, making it look like readable English. Many desktop publishing packages and web page editors now use Lorem Ipsum as their default model text, and a search for ‘lorem ipsum’ will uncover many web sites still in their infancy. Various versions have evolved over the years, sometimes by accident, sometimes on purpose (injected humour and the like).
