Hello, my name is Monjolaoluwa Runsewe and if you are reading my bio, it is nice to meet you. I am a freshman computer science major with an expected graduation date of 2029. In September 2025, I was selected to serve as The Hornet Tribune’s managing editor for website content and management for the 2025-26 academic year. As the manager of this division, I, along with my team, am expected to create, develop, implement, and manage web and intranet communication strategies to raise brand awareness, inform internal and external audiences, and achieve the business goals of The Hornet Tribune.
As the proud daughter of John and Elizabeth Runsewe, I was born in Ogun, Nigeria. My academic journey began I graduated from The Ambassadors College (the name of my high school), where I was involved in student leadership as a prefect, a saxophonist, and academically I served as a peer tutor. I was involved in several organizations including the Red Cross, the choir, Rise Above Autism, and the Student Leadership Council.
When it was time to consider institutions of higher education, my mother and I began our research and came upon Alabama State University. I realized that it offered my preferred major and it was an opportunity to secure a solid education affordably. I chose computer science because I always knew that I wanted to work in the tech industry, and I am especially encouraged because of all the technical advancements being made. After graduation, I plan to pursue a career in technology, with a focus in data science and software engineering.
I wanted to work with The Hornet Tribune because I saw it as an opportunity to gain experience in digital media and leadership. I also saw it as an avenue for me to gain personal and professional skills to help me prepare for my career. I would definitely advise other students to join the other members of The Hornet Tribune because it allows students to be actively involved on campus while developing their personal and professional skills.
