Hornets View Episode-3

Welcome back to Hornet’s View where the buzz is always good and today we have an exciting  one with Fear Factor tryouts being this week and having some backlash over Fizz.  There was a fight outside of Towers, we’re going to talk about that scuffle, and then  there was a fire inside of Card last night on Thursday, and on top of all that we have  midterms coming up, and most excitingly, our special segment, Am I the Stinger?  Make sure you guys stay tuned with us, let’s get right into it.  Alright, first up, update your lingo, Loke, short for Loki.

Right? But either way, Loke, Fear Factor must have made some people really, really mad. Because listen to these Fizz comments.  I’m not no dance connoisseur or nothing, but I’m pretty sure Fear Factor is a Miami  dance organization, right?  And they do that scrub the ground stuff.

And then two, for people with no experience, you think with no experience y’all are going  to join an org everybody wants to join when they have to be selective?  You think you with no experience is going to get there?  Let’s see what the replies were.  Don’t come to Fear Factor tryouts if you’re not prepared to dance fast.  That’s all they do is dance to fast music, and it’s no shade.

Study what you’re trying to join.  Exactly. That’s exactly what it is.

To me, it’s giving, you know, you guys had a sense of entitlement, you guys thought you  were special, you know, and then reality hits you fast on, you know, what they are looking  for to join their organization.  You can’t be mad if someone doesn’t want to let you in their organization.  And that’s all I have to say about it, period.

That’s it.  On to the next topic, the fight outside of Towers.  Now, I don’t know much context behind the fight, but this is the second or maybe third  fight of the year already.

And people, you know, we are in college.  C-O-L-L-E-G-E.  And I feel like we’re not taking it serious enough because while we fight, there should be nothing someone can do to get you to fight them in college.

In high school, that’s where all the GP matters.  That’s where, yeah, I’m gonna have to stand on that because if I don’t, right, people  aren’t going to think things. That’s where you’re able to get away with that.

But college, you’re paying to go here.  And if you’re not paying to go here, you’re getting your scholarship revoked for fighting.  But beyond that, let’s say you’re paying to go here.

If you’re paying to go here, you’re going here for your education.  I can get fighting in high school because you’re around so many of your friends.  You don’t hold that many responsibilities, right?  You just got to go to class and stuff, right?  Your teachers, they’re nice.

They’re going to give you grace because, you know, you’re just a kid.  But no, that’s a real assault charge now.  These are real life charges.

You’ll get kicked out of school, expelled, and it’s going to be on your transcript.  Now, if school was never something you’ve been into anyways, then I could see why you will fight somebody.  But if you plan on getting, what’s your mama going to say?  What’s your mama going to say? Who cares if they disrespected you?  Are they going to graduate?  Because obviously, if they disrespected you, you know, they’re not worried about their classes enough to disrespect you.

Because I don’t know.  The whole thing’s crazy. And then to take it off campus and to fight again, like, you can’t not like someone that much.

You really can’t. Like, now how much, if the people who are fighting are listening to this podcast, how  much of the fight do you think contributed to the people around you hyping it up and  jeering?  Because it rolls into my next topic, groupthink at ASU. For those of you who don’t know, the definition of groupthink is a psychological phenomenon that occurs when members of a group prioritize harmony, consensus, or conformity over critical  thinking and realistic evaluation of alternatives.

For example, let’s say you’re hanging around four people and you’re hungry and you announce to the group, I’m hungry.  I’m going to go get something to eat.  Right?  If everyone says they’re not hungry and don’t move, so you sit back down, you’re  actively participating in groupthink and not having your own opinions and thoughts.

You should be able to do things by yourselves independently.  Another example of groupthink is that fight. You know, you’re around there.

Everybody’s saying you should fight them.  You should fight them.  They’re disrespecting me.

If that was me, I would have punched them in the face. Would you have really?  Would you have really?  Would you?  Because I’d never give no advice like that, especially with my friend.  I would never give no advice like that.

Because why would I want to see you get kicked out of school?  Why would I want to see you get placed on academic probation and get in trouble?  We’re supposed to, you know, treat each other and ourselves like the kings and queens  we are.  You were already being doubted because we’re in HBCU.  Why?  Why add that?  Why make it harder for everyone else?  That’s what I was saying about groupthink.

Start having your end.  Really start thinking in your own individual groups.  What would happen if you just went to go do something by yourself with the people around you think you’re mad at them because you should be able to do things independently.

You know, but onto the next topic.  Y’all ain’t ready for that. Y’all not ready for that.

Onto the next. What happened in card last night to cause that fire?  That’s absolute insanity.  I don’t know if anybody has seen the photos, but it was full flames through the window that  I, you know, I have photos of and I seen the fire truck come around the corner and it really looked like something serious.

But I hope everybody’s safe. Nobody’s hurt.  And that hopefully card is in better condition when next year comes around.

I don’t know how long it’s going to take to fix that fire debris.  But I hope it wasn’t no air fryer because boy, tomorrow is going to start digging through  stuff, looking for them air fryers.  Man, it’s going to be like contraband.

And the last thing before we go into our special segment, am I the stinger?  Midterms are coming up this week and make sure guys, please get your tutors.  I want to see all of your guys is beautiful and wonderful faces next semester.  Don’t be a part of the group of people that drop out at semester that leave at semester,  right?  Unless you’re transferring.

I don’t say you should transfer.  I think this is an amazing and wonderful school, but don’t drop out of school.  Go get that tutor.

There is still time. We’re just coming up on midterms.  Buckle down.

Don’t go to those parties.  Get a tutor and grind.  Please now on to am I the stinger?  Today we have a interesting.

Am I the stinger? Um, let me just get to reading it.  Am I 19 female freshmen the stinger for leaving my best friend at a party? I think right there we could say confidently.  Yeah, the stinger right there, but let’s read it.

Let’s read.  Let’s read.  Let’s read for context.

Me and my best friend have been friends since we got into school.  She’s my roommate.  And ever since we’ve been going out to parties with each other every single weekend,  every time we get a chance.

But for this particular party, she wanted to stay extra to talk to this guy.  But I really wanted to go.  I wasn’t feeling well and I was getting sleepy.

So I booked the Uber and I told her we were going to leave.  She told me she was just going to head back with the guy.  I said no, like just come back with me.

You know, we got to stick together.  She said no, I’m going to stay with him.  And I thought she was a grown woman.

So she’s able to go stay.  So as I leave, I don’t see her come back till about 4 or 5 a.m.  And then we don’t talk and we don’t talk all day the next day.  And then finally we get into a big argument.

Am I the stinger?  Loke?  Loke.  It really depends.  I would say yes.

But I would say yes because I’m thinking since you guys are roommates and you guys are girls,  you know, y’all shouldn’t leave anywhere without each other.  And that should have been an agreement you guys have made together, right?  Do I think she should be mad at you? No, because you’re right.  She is a grown woman.

You do not have to look after her and watch her because, you know, y’all are both in college.  That’s not your responsibility.  But in hindsight of things, you’re Loke the stinger.

Because I wouldn’t do that to none of my homegirls.  I wouldn’t do that to none of my homeboys.  They could tell me they hate me no matter what.

I’m taking them back no matter.  I just don’t care. But if, you know, y’all aren’t that close, I don’t know.

I think you still should have done it. You should have just had her mad at you for that way.  Because what was she mad at you about now that you left her?  She wanted to stay.

So like it’s a lose-lose situation.  Anytime you go out with a friend and they want to stay and you want to leave.  It’s a lose-lose every time.

I say just make yourself happy and take them home. But thank you guys for listening to another episode of Hornets View.  It is a pleasure for you guys to listen in.

And please make sure you guys tune in for another episode.  Peace out.
